- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I visited Dr. Beckman upon a referral from a doctor. The reason I was referred, was that I had been assaulted by a former partner who was domestically abusive. I was in tears when in his office. He obviously had to ask me about my experience and why I was there. He made jokes, laughing and asking 'you're not still with him are you?" as if domestic abuse was a joke. I study psychology. The cycle of abuse is nothing to joke about. NEVER when you are a doctor. You should be ashamed of yourself. A doctor holds a series of responsibilities. Mocking patients, and not taking their situations seriously, is cause for incredible concern. I will be filing a complaint with an official BC registry, but do not attend this doctor if you do not have to. Domestic abuse is not a joke Doctor. Please refrain from cracking jokes about it with your patients whoa re suffering the residual traumatic effects of such horrors. You should be ashamed.
