  Dr. Johnston has been my doctor for over 20 years. Canada needs more family practice physicians like him. His practice is busy, and sometimes appointment times run a bit behind, but only BECAUSE he gives patients the time they need to discuss their health concerns. He sees patients of all ages and stages of life, including being on call for births and looking after the complex needs of elderly patients. He puts himself out to care long term for his patients, providing a level and consistency of care that is hard to find. Years ago I saw a walk-in-clinic doctor closer to home for a bout of shingles that started on a weekend, and when I told Dr. J, he advised me to next time call his emergency line if I need urgent attention after hours. That is commitment. I also commend and admire Dr. Johnston's consistent ethic of care for patients which includes advocacy work for palliative care, and raising awareness about serious concerns the public ought to have with the legalization of euthanasia and doctor-assisted suicide. In short, I am proud and fortunate to have Dr. Johnston as my doctor.
